LUCY ANN COLLETT was born at The Mill in
Bourton-on-the-Water on 27.02.1823, the ninth child of Robert Collett of Upper
Slaughter and his wife Mary Ann (Marianne) Kyte. She
was a milliner and dressmaker and lived for some years with her widowed
father up to 1853 when she sailed to Australia on the ship Euphemus. On
arrival at At
the start of the following year, whilst at Castlemaine,
she met and married John Henry Foster a carpenter and builder. John was born in Lucy

great great grandson Brian Foster. At the same time Brian submitted details of
a Phyllis Blunt who married a Frank Collett who had links with the island of
Jersey. |

|
|
Phyllis Mary Blunt was born in 1923
at Nakuru in Kenya, the daughter of British
parents. She was educated in Belgium
by Ursuline Nuns and she served with the Women’s
Auxiliary Air Force during the Second World War. It was also during the war that she met
Frank Collett, whom she married and with whom she had five children, the
first three being born before 1952. |

After the war, the family lived on
Jersey, but emigrated to Australia in 1952, and it
was at Melbourne that the couple’s fourth and fifth child were born. A book written by Phyllis Mary Collett
entitled ‘Historical Homes of Wide Bay’ was signed by her in 1983, and was
handed down through the family of Brian Foster’s wife. Wide Bay is in Queensland, Australia. However, it has still to be resolved who
her husband Frank Collett was, and who his parents were. |
