24O20	Charles Otto Lund Collett was born on 30.10.1878. He married Ida Alice Loeck who was born on 21.10.1887. Charles was the son of Marie Collett and Anders Jacob Lund (Ref. 24N21) and was adopted by Marie’s brother Eugene Collett and his wife Frida Walhberg (Ref. 24N19). At some stage in their married life the couple were living close to the Surrey and Hampshire border in England, where the second and third sons were born respectively.

24O36	James Collett was born on 11.03.1886. He married (1) Angerd Sander and they had one son. He later married (2) Wenche Susanna (Sussi) Sivle who was born on 08.06.1888 and who died on 11.03.1981. James died nine years earlier on 21.03.1972.

24P2	Thomas Collett was a twin who was born on 23.12.1898. He married Agnes Tellefsen who was born on 26.11.1899. Agnes died on 25.09.1971 and Thomas on 26.09.1978.

24P6	Fredrik Collett was born on 17.07.1908 and he married Ellen Sofie Hansen who was born on 21.12.1902. Fredrik died on 14.05.1982.
24P9	Kaare Collett was born on 19.04.1905 and he married Randi Margrethe Aanensen who was born on 18.08.1915. They had no children and Kaare died on 03.05.1982.
24P10	Ragnhild Collett of Namsos was born on 01.03.1908. She married Kare Prytz who was born in 1902 and who died in 1958. They had two sons and daughter, the youngest son having been born at Doha in Qatar. The town of Namsos has a relatively short but chequered history.
	First established in 1845 comprising mostly timber houses, it was destroyed by fire on three occasions. The first 1872, then again in 1897 and finally on 20^th April 1940 when the town was bombed by German planes to mark Hitler’s birthday.

24P11	Julie Essendorp Collett of Oslo was born on 04.05.1910. She married Ernest Sinding a college lecturer but they had no children. Ernest died on 21.09.1962.
24P12	Lilla Collett of Oslo was born on 05.09.1915. She married (1) Herbert Thorsen on 19.10.1940 with whom she had no children. She later married (2) Thomas Gaarder who was born on 08.07.1915. Both of their children were in Blommenholm.

24P16	Karen Collett was born on 25.04.1923. She married Erik Moen who was born on 11.01.1921 and they had two sons and two daughters. Karen died on 03.10.2004.

24P18	Rigmor Collett of Oslo was born on 29.12.1903. She married Finn Fougner who was born on 18.03.1901 and they had two sons and a daughter. There is an earlier mention of the Fougner family at Ref. 24O17, and a later mention at Ref. 24P26.
24P19	Else Collett was born in Norway on 08.09.1905 and married her Danish relative Harald Peter Otto Collet – see The Denmark Line Ref. 25P4 for further family details. Elsie died on 17.04.1990.
	Harald’s great grandfather was the brother of Else’s great grandfather. It show also be noted that the Danish branch of the Collett spelt their name with only one t.
24P20	Nanna Elisabeth Collett was born on 04.06.1917. She never married and died on 14.02.1958 at the age of forty.
	A headstone at the multiple Collett grave in Vestre Gravlund in Oslo bears the inscription “Nanna Collett FODT 4-6-1917 DOD 17-2-1958”. The name of her sister Kathleen Collett (below) is also listed on the same headstone.
24P21	Camilla Collett of Oslo was born on 20.09.1919. She married Andreas Ebbing a director in Oslo and they had three daughters and a son. Andreas was born on 27.08.1918 and died on 22.12.1983. Camilla died on 26.12.2003.
24P22	Kathleen Collett was born in Christiania on 22.08.1921. She married ambassador Rolf Fredrik Hancke who was born on 17.07.1920. The marriage produced twin sons Fredrik Rolf and Johan Peter Hancke who were born on 20.12.1947 and a daughter Karen Kristine Hancke who was born on 19.08.1953.
	It was as a result of Rolf’s work that the family lived in New York from 1950 to 1953, and this was followed by a year in Copenhagen. From 1959 to 1965 they lived in Washington, immediately following which they lived for the next two years in Geneva.
	In 1971 Kathleen and Rolf were divorced when Kathleen was living in Oslo and Rolf was ambassador to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development (OECD) in Paris. Three years later Rolf died on 30.11.1974.
	Towards the end of that decade Kathleen left Oslo when she moved to Bergen in the late 1970s. And it was at Brattholmen on Sotra, just west of Bergen, that Kathleen died on 30.01.1984 at the age of 62.
	By a strange coincidence on the very evening that Kathleen Collett would have been eighty-eight years old, her two sons and many other members of the Collett family from Norway and abroad were taking part in a Collett celebration at the home of Tom Oscar Collett (Ref. 24Q16) as part of the 2009 Collett Reunion in Oslo.
	A headstone at the multiple Collett grave in Vestre Gravlund in Oslo bears the inscription “Kathleen Collett FODT 22-8-1921 DOD 31-1-1984”. The name of her sister Nanna Collett (above) is also listed on the same headstone.
24P23	Rosa Kathrine Agnes Collett was born in Oslo on 04.09.1948. She married Per Jakhelln in June 2006 and was a member of the committee which organised the Collett Family Reunion in Oslo in August 2009. This photograph of Rosa was taken at the site of the Collett graves in the churchyard at Nykirke on Saturday 22^nd August 2009. On this occasion Rosa placed a wreath on the commemorative plaque listing eight of the early members of the Collett family buried there, as part of the reunion celebrations.
	During the previous evening, Rosa and Per held a party at their home for the ninth generation of Norwegian Colletts, as part of the reunion celebrations. See separate webfile for a full report, with pictures, on the four-day reunion event.
24P24	John Albert Collett, of Hawai in the USA, was born in Oslo on 03.08.1911. He married (1) Martha Jane Spanton who was born on 22.05.1933 but who tragically died soon after the wedding in 1954. John later married (2) Ellen Kapfer who already had a daughter Nina Kapfer who was born on 15.05.1962. John died in Hawaii on 15.07.1999.
24P25	Nanna Elise Collett (known as Nannalise) of Asker in Norway was born on 27.05.1913. She married Johan Henrik Paaske and they had two sons and a daughter. Johan was born on 19.04.1904 and died on 14.02.1971. Nanna lived on until 26.02.1999.
24P26	Aase Ingeborg Collett was born on 02.01.1909. In 1931 she married Eiliv Fougner (known as Bob) of Oslo and they had four daughters and a son. Bob was born on 20.05.1904 and died on 14.03.1972, the exact same day that Aase and one of their daughters died – see below for details.
	Tragically on the return flight from a holiday in Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) the plane Aas and Bob and one of their daughters were travelling in was due to land for a refuelling stop at Dubai but the plane hit a mountain between Fujairah and Dubai killing everyone onboard.
	This was the third member of the Collett family to marry a member of the Fougner family – see Ref. 24P18 and Ref. 24O17.
24P27	Karen Collett (known as Kari) of Asker in Norway was born on 12.02.1910. She married Erling Holtsmark Bredal and they couple had two daughters and a son. Erling was born on 02.12.1903 and died on 15.08.1970.
24P28	Eva Collett was born on 17.09.1914 and she married Sonnich Sonnichsen a director in Oslo who was born on 07.02.1906. Their marriage produced two daughters. Eva died on 01.06.1983.
24P29	Carl Oscar Collett was born on 02.02.1922 and became a director in Oslo. He married Dagmar Gunla von Sydow Bodtker who was born on 23.01.1926. Sadly he passed away on 21.05.2008 and was buried on 30^th May.

24P30	Alice Collett, who was known as Lisa, was born on 23.09.1913 and lived at Lewes in Sussex. In 1936 Alice married Doctor Arthur William Sclater who was born at Newick Park in Sussex on 11.11.1909 and with whom she had two sons. Arthur was the son of the Rev. Francis Sanderson Sclater and Hedda Beer of Oslo who brought him up to speak Norwegian.
	Alice’s and Arthur’s eldest son, John Richard Sclater was the managing director of the Nordic Bank in London, while the couple’s second son, Michael Victor Sclater was a film director at Lewes. Alice Sclater nee Collett died in May 2005.
	Arthur Sclater died on 02.06.2002 at the age of 92. During the Second World War Arthur was the commander and leader of The Shetland Bus service which sustained Norwegian resistance during the dark days of Nazi rule. This was the organisation through which the Special Operations Executive (SOE) supported saboteurs and other resistance operations in occupied Norway. It was the fact that he and his wife Alice both spoke fluent Norwegian that the two of them were sent to the Shetlands where, to protect their relations in Norway, they called themselves Mr and Mrs Rogers. Between them, the couple made both their home and the base at Scalloway a safe haven for Norwegian fisherman and others who were shuttling to and from Norway.
	Such were the risks that the couple were taking that Alice carried a loaded revolver so that she could shoot herself and her son John rather than be taken prisoner by the Germans. While Arthur was responsible for supervising every aspect of the sea crossings, Alice was responsible for the care of the passengers.
	The Norwegian fishermen who made countless crossings were incredibly vulnerable to attack from the Luftwaffe and German Navy and during the operation eight crews were lost. One boat, the Bergholm skippered by the renowned Leif Larson, had made fifty-six crossings up to 1943 when it was badly damaged by enemy aircraft. Undaunted, Leif rowed eight wound crewmen to Alesund where they hid for many weeks before being rescued.
	The loss of life was becoming so great that the operation was near to closure in 1943. However, following the involvement of President Roosevelt, three submarine chasers were dispatched to support Arthur Sclater and this transformed his operations. Overall, 400 tons of arms and equipment, together with agents, wireless operators, and others, were ferried to Norway, while some 350 Norwegian Resistance fighters were saved from arrest by the Gestapo.
	For his part in the Special Operations Executive, Arthur Sclater received King Haakon VII’s Liberty Cross and the US Medal of Freedom with bronze cross.
	Having been educated at Charterhouse, Arthur then attended Gonville and Caius at Cambridge, after which he worked in Brazil for the Anglo-Mexican Petroleum Company. He returned to Europe in 1936 to be married, following which he worked in London in the wood-pulp business for Berner, Nicol & Company. After the war Arthur took over control of Berner Nicol.
	Around the same time he began restoration work on Newick Park, where he was born, and restructuring the estate which had become run-down. Supported by his wife Alice and his estate manager, Arthur made such a success of Newick Park that in 1968 he acquired the adjoining estate of Sutton Hall which increased his total land holding to 2,500 acres which was eventually taken over by his son John.
24P31	James Robert Collett was born on 24.08.1914. He married Wenche Elisabeth Reimers who was born on 23.05.1920. The marriage took place in the summer of 1941 and in March the following year the couple’s only child was born.
	Not long after they were married Jame, who was more commonly referred to as Robert, sailed from Gothenburg in Sweden to the United Kingdom with the intention of joining the allied forces against Germany.
	Tragically the ship in which he was travelling to England was sunk and James was drowned. Robert died sometime during November 1941, while his wife Wenche died on 31.05.1998.
	A headstone at the multiple Collett grave in Vestre Gravlund in Oslo bears the inscription “Robert Collett 1914 – 1941”. Also included on the same headstone are the details relating to his parents, these being “Arthur Collett 1879 – 1968” and “Ingeborg Collett F. Wedel Jarlsberg 1889 – 1951”.

24P32	Nini Ingeborg Collett of Oslo was born on 23.03.1917 and she married Arne Durban a well known sculpture artist of Oslo. Arne was born on 16.06.1912 and the couple had two daughters.
24P33	Karen Harriet Collett (known as Kaja) was born on 07.05.1923. She married Herman Alethes Knudtzon of Oslo who was born on 15.12.1918. The marriage produced two sons and a daughter. The youngest son, Arthur Collett Knudtzon, settled in Fort Lauderdale in Florida with his wife Randi Hansen. Karen was divorced from Herman in 1974.
24P34	Martha Cathrine Collett (known as Cath) was born on 01.03.1916. She married Trygve Kristen Peter Mustad and they had three sons and a daughter. Trygve was born on 31.01.1914 and died on 11.07.1973.
24P35	Brita Lucie Collett of Oslo was born on 03.07.1917. She married Bernhard Cathrinus Paus a medical doctor of Oslo and they had four daughters and two sons. Bernhard was born on 09.11.1910 and is likely to be the brother of Vilhelm Paus who married Brita’s sister Gurli Collett below. Brita died on 28.06.1998 while Bernhard died on 09.02.1999.
	During her life Brita was a Norwegian humanitarian leader and founder of Fransiskushjelpen, a Catholic charitable organisation in Norway which she led from 1956 to 1993. Six years prior to this she converted to Catholicism in 1950, and served as a chair of the Laity Council of Catholic Diocese of Oslo, as a board member of Caritas in Norway from 1965, and a member of governmental committees.
	For her work in these areas Brita received many decorations, including Knight First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav, which she received from King Olav, the St. Halvard Medal which she received from the Mayor of Oslo, and The Paul Harris Medal from Rotary International.
	She also received decorations from the Pope in the Vatican, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the Red Cross.
	Information relating to Brita and her mother Lucie (Ref. 24O14) has been kindly provided by her daughter Bente’s husband Kaare Knutson during 2007 and 2009.
24P36	Gurli Anne Margrethe Collett of Oslo was born on 07.12.1918. She married Vilhelm Christian Odegaard Paus and they had four daughters and a son but were later divorced. Vilhelm, who was born on 25.04.1915, is very likely to be the brother of Bernhard Paus who married Gurli’s sister Brita Collett above.
	Anne Margrethe Paus nee Collett passed away on 28.08.2008.
24P37	Albert Peter Severin Collett a director of Oslo was born on 07.12.1921. He married Marit Nielssen who was born on 22.07.1929 and died on 27.11.1993. Marit died on 22.01.2004.
	A headstone at the multiple Collett grave in Vestre Gravlund in Oslo bears the inscription “Albert P S Collett * 7-12-1921 + 27-11-1993”. Beneath this are the details for his wife Marit and his daughter Ragnhild, which read as follows: “Marit I Collett * 22-07-1929 + 22-1-2004” and “Ragnhild S Collett * 13-2-1958 * 11-5-2002”.

24P38	Jonas Rudolf Collett was born on 23.09.1928. He married Karen Margrethe Kluver who was born on 18.04.1929. Karen Margrethe Kluver Collett died on 28.05.2011 at the age of 82.

24P39	Grete Collett of Oslo was born on 01.01.1914. She married Aage Jorgensen of Oslo and they had two sons. The youngest son, Peter Collett Jorgensen, was an architect in Oslo. Aage was born on 10.10.1910 and died on 01.03.1971. Grete died on 15.04.1995.
24P40	Celine Esther Collett (known as Line) of Oslo was born on 15.01.1916. She married (1) Kristen Tandberg who was born on 01.02.1911 and who died on 06.07.1944, a possible casualty of WW2. Line then married Carsten Anker who was born on 21.04.1913. Neither marriage produced any children and Line died on 11.07.1998 with Carsten having died four years earlier on 15.12.1994.
24P41	Ove Gulberg Hoegh Collett was born on 01.01.1922 and he became a director in Oslo. He married Kirsti Freng who was born on 10.08.1922.

24P47	PETER COLLETT was a general consul in Oslo and was born on 07.09.1926. He was a machine wholesaler and he married (1) Evy Nielsen on 24.03.1955 at Oslo with who he had three children. Evy was born on 15.09.1935. Following a divorce in 1968 Peter then married (2) Vera Gran Nansen on 17.01.1969, the marriage producing two further children. Vera was born on 28.08.1938. From 1975 to 1996 Peter represented Bangladesh as an Honorary Consul General. This photograph was taken at Shepton Mallet at the Collett Reunion in June 2006.
	In 1983 Peter published the ‘Familien Collett’ a major work detailing the family history in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. And it is through his help and support that this family line has been brought right up to date.
	Peter, together with Rosa Collett (Ref. 24P23) and Bente Collett (Ref. 24Q15), were the prime movers in organising the very successful 2009 Collett Reunion in Oslo.

Berit was buried in the Collett grave at Vestre Gravlund in Oslo and the headstone simply reads “Berit Collett * 17-12-1931 + 26-2-2007”. This photograph of Knut was taken on the evening on 22^nd August 2009 at the home of Tom Oscar and Henriette Collett during the weekend celebrations for the Collett Reunion in Oslo.

24P49	Karen Cecilie Wilhelmine Collett was born on 28.01.1932. She married Carsten Mellbye of Oslo who was born on 10.10.1923 with whom she had two sons and a daughter. These are Andreas Mellbye who was born on 24.09.1955, Knut Collett Mellbye who was born on 15.10.1957, and Anette Mellbye who was born on 08.05.1962.
24P50	Charles Henry Collett was born on 08.10.1912. He never married and died on 02.09.1941, possibly another casualty of WW2.
24P51	Niels Wolff Collett was born on 27.03.1915 in England at East Hindhead in Surrey. He was the son of Charles Otto Collett of Oslo, and he was later referred to as Niels Wolff Collett of Tadworth in Surrey. He married Hazel Olive Neville-Rolfe, and the couple later adopted two children. Hazel was born on 10.07.1924, the daughter of Major James Neville-Rolfe and his wife Ethel Louise.

24P52	Otto Edward Collett was born on 10.07.1917 in England at Rake near Liss just north of Petersfield in Hampshire. He married (1) Pauline Julia Stuart Smith with whom he had two children and later married (2) Wendy Mullins with whom he had a further two children. Pauline was born on 18.01.1923 and Wendy on 10.02.1935.

24P53	Kirsten Louise Collett was born on 06.10.1912. She married Erik Gude Smith Host but the married did not produce any children. Erik was born on 06.02.1897 and he died on 05.04.1975.
24P54	Tom Louis Collett was born on 21.11.1917 and lived at Narvik. As the only child and son of James Collett (Ref. 24O36) when Tom died on 09.04.1940 so this line of the Collett family came to an end. Tom was one of the unfortunate fatalities of the invasion of German forces on the town of Narvik.
24Q1	Isak Collett was born on 24.04.1930. He was a director at Stavanger in Norway and he married Ingrid Ottesen who was born on 06.12.1930.

24Q13	John Peter Collett Moen was born in Drammen on 13.05.1953, the son of Karen Collett (Ref. 24P16) and Erik Moen. Although originally christened with his father’s surname, he later decided to stop using Moen and reverted to the surname of his mother. On 15.08.1987 as John Peter Collett he married Eva Liv Amundsen who was born in Oslo on 01.02.1957.
	John Peter Collett is a professor at the University of Oslo and had he not chosen to take his mother’s maiden name as his accepted surname this particular Collett line would have end with his mother Karen Collett. During the 2009 Collett Family Reunion in Norway, John kindly talked about the Collett family and their grand houses on a number of occasions during the weekend celebrations. This photograph of John deep in thought was taken at the site of the Collett graves at Nykirke Church on Saturday 22^nd August.

24Q15	Bente Dagmar Collett was born in Norway on 08.10.1951. She married Michael Haffner Knagenhjelm who was born on 22.06.1948 and they have two children Maria Collett Knagenhjelm (born 1980) and Johan Haffner Knagenhjelm (born 1981). After living some of her life in London, Bente now lives with her family in Baerum just outside Oslo.
	Bente was one of the committee responsible for organising the highly successful 2009 Collett Family Reunion which took place in Norway during the weekend of 22^nd August. The photograph above was taken during the reunion visit to Bogstad Gard on Sunday 23^rd August.

	On Saturday 22^nd August, during the Collett Reunion in Norway in 2009, Tom and Henriette arranged a most enjoyable evening in a large marquee in the garden at their home in Oslo when they played host to the extended Collett family, including overseas visitors from Demark, England and Australia.

24Q18	Christopher James Collett was one of twins born on 12.08.1960. He never married and in his middle twenties he was studying Russian language and was writing a thesis on Russian oil and energy production policy issues as a student at the University of Oslo.
	Tragically his young life was cut short on 23.10.1987 when he was killed in a motor car accident.

	A headstone at the multiple Collett grave in Vestre Gravlund in Oslo bears the inscription “Ragnhild S Collett * 13-2-1958 * 11-5-2002”. On the same stone are the details of her father and mother as follows: “Albert P S Collett * 7-12-1921 + 27-11-1993” and “Marit I Collett * 22-07-1929 + 22-1-2004”.

	On 26.07.1996 John married (2) Trude Rebekka Rortveit who was born on 24.11.1960 and this marriage produced a further two children for John.
